How Can Security Keep Up with Multi-Cloud Environments?

“Research has indicated that about 4 out of 5 federal agencies use more than one cloud platform, and that approach is expected to accelerate in the years ahead. However, security concerns remain about multicloud environments in agencies, especially with so many workers using cloud-based collaboration tools while working from home.
According to a survey and research report recently released by MeriTalk, just half of multicloud users or fewer report taking critical steps to secure their environments, such as using data encryption.”
COVID-19 accelerates cloud migration plans

“More than half of respondents to a new survey are either accelerating their cloud adoption timeline or moving forward as planned during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this number goes up to 59 percent among respondents considering VMware Cloud on AWS.
The study from multi-cloud data service provider Faction finds that among those organizations where COVID-19 has paused or canceled cloud adoption, the top factors cited are budget pressures (75 percent) along with staffing shortages and macro-economic uncertainty (each named by 41 percent of respondents).”
In enterprise software, the battle between stability and disruption intensifies

“Enterprise software markets are dominated by megacap companies such as SAP SE, Oracle Corp., Salesforce.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp. Meanwhile, software-as-a-service leaders such as ServiceNow Inc. and Workday Inc. have solidified their market positions by replicating the Salesforce model in their respective domains.
There is still room for innovative upstarts that are introducing new cloud native services and value pricing models, but the traditional market is maturing, while possible disruption looms from cloud developers and ecosystems.”
